How could any religion compete with the Catholic Church as far as glorious creations? (try not to think of the suffering the church also caused over the centuries...the Spanish Inquisition, etc.) Think of the anonymous stoneworkers and other craftsmen who worked on the cathedrals and other objects...it's amazing. And think of all the plastic garbage-y items that are spewed out now...you call THIS civilization?? Did I ever mention a book called "Guns, Germs and Steel"? It was a best-seller about 2-3 years ago and offers an interesting theory about how those things affected the course of history.
