Just walking up a flight of stairs will get you winded — even if you’re in shape. At breakfast in the morning they serve tea made from coco leaves to help with the altitude sickness and oxygen deprivation.

It’s amazing how such an ancient civilization was so precise with the construction of their city perched on the edge of a mountain. This caused us to be late getting out of the airport, and late getting a taxi to the train stop, which caused us to nearly miss the train from Cusco to Aguas Calientes. These chain reactions are stressful! Luckily it all worked out in the end and we were able to relax on the luxury Hiram Bingham train.

Luckily the buggy comes with a driver, in our case Jorge. He scared the bejesus out of us a few times, but it was all in good fun!
