One of the popular things to do here in Natal is to rent a buggy and go sand-duning. Luckily the buggy comes with a driver, in our case Jorge. He scared the bejesus out of us a few times, but it was all in good fun!

A River Runs Through It

So if driving between Papa & Natal you’ll need to drive your vehicle onto a floating platform and pay a guy 7 reals to push the barge across the river with a long piece of bamboo. Hey, whatever works.

After partying with several blocos for about a week straight it was time to head to the countryside and get some much needed R&R to recharge our batteries. After all, we will be traveling to Rio soon and I’m sure we’ll need all the energy we can get.

Carnival In A CocoNutshell

Last year it was decided that we would all rendezvous in Brazil for Carnival. Instead of attending the big non-participatory parade in Rio, we wanted to get a much more “hands-on” experience, so we headed to Recife and the smaller town of Olinda to get our capoeira on. Here’s a small snapshot of the Carnival-Chaos. It’s going to a lot to top this experience.
