After getting turned away from the Lake Cachuma campgrounds due to the fact that “the lake is on fire,” according to one highway patrol officer, we quickly formulated a backup plan to stay at night on the beach just north of Ventura. The next morning we took a boat ride out to Santa Cruz Island for a scenic hike along the coast line. After losing the trail back we had to forge our own path through a river bed and rely on our impeccable sense of direction to get us back to the pier in time for the last departing boat of the day. Luckily we made it back with a few minutes to spare. It would have been a cold, lonely and hungry night on that island.
I made this quick little stop-motion video from the still images of a nearby building, by just sequencing them as frames in Photoshop. Each frame is one photo taken from 7 different floors of an adjacent building.
We would like to apologize for the lack of posts during the last few months. Photos and stories detailing the final months of our adventures in Argentina, Brazil, and Peru will be posted ASAP. As for further travel? We’ve got a trip in August that will take us to Seattle and British Columbia. September will find us in the South of France, Barcelona, and San Sebastian. And last but not least a trip to Columbia in November is LONG overdue.
Besides planning more adventures we’ve been spending quite a bit of time organizing and further developing our business, with the hope that it will enable us to have even more flexability. Although, the Summer hasn’t been all work and no play. We’ve been putting in our fair share of time in the sun…
