Going Going Back Back To Cali Cali
Two years after embarking on this trip to circumnavigate North America, the mission is nearly complete. The end is near. This feels weird. I don’t like it one bit.

Or rather the most beautiful. Really really remarkable scenery here. The photos just don’t do it justice. I spontaneously woke up at 5am one morning and hiked up to the highest ridge to catch the sun rise over the lake. This is my life.
Meh, this is OLD lava. I still want to see NEW fresh hot molten lava up close. Well, kinda close. Nearby is a lava tube that’s about a mile long and is freeezing cold even when the surface temperature is 80+. I’d show you photos of that but there’s nothing to see, literally. It’s pitch dark, and completely silent. Very peaceful.
And sometimes it likes a nice quite (and grueling hike to the top of Smith Rock. I think the real misery would be cramming my feet into the shoes the rock climbers wear to scale the rock face. I’ll stick to climbing with my feet like Merrell intended!
From The Devils Punchbowl down to Devils Churn, the Oregon Coast line is anything but hellish.
