Well, we made it! Around the world in exactly 8 months. 22 new stamps in our passports and not a single limb was lost in the process! One of the greatest learning experiences of my life, and I can already tell that this is only the beginning.
En route to see the majestic Machu-Picchu we flew into Cusco, Peru and at an elevation of 11,200 feet it feels as if we have yet to land. Just walking up a flight of stairs will get you winded — even if you’re in shape. At breakfast in the morning they serve tea made from coco leaves to help with the altitude sickness and oxygen deprivation.

One of the New 7 Wonders of the World, Machu Picchu is a miracle of ancient architecture and engineering. It’s amazing how such an ancient civilization was so precise with the construction of their city perched on the edge of a mountain. It sort of makes you wonder if for all of the advancement of our modern world today, have we progressed far enough?

Nearly missed our flight which caused us to have to check our bags (something we always try to avoid) and so of course our bags were late getting off the plane. This caused us to be late getting out of the airport, and late getting a taxi to the train stop, which caused us to nearly miss the train from Cusco to Aguas Calientes. These chain reactions are stressful! Luckily it all worked out in the end and we were able to relax on the luxury Hiram Bingham train.
