Rather than following the same route the last time I drove along the Eastern seaboard, I took a look at a map and opted to head inland a bit. Anything to avoid the wretched Myrtle Beach again!
Picked up the RV in Jacksonville today and made a B-line north to resume the circumnavigation of North America. Got as far as Charleston, SC where I’ll call it a night.
Saint-Martin is the French side of Saint Martin and while it doesn’t have as nearly as an exciting beach as the Dutch side there are still some rather spectacular sights.
Sint Maarten is the Dutch side of Saint Martin and where you can find Maho Beach. It’s located just a few meters from the runway of Princess Juliana International Airport and you can sunbathe while watching some spectacular 747 approaches. For those brave enough, you can try your luck at standing at the edge of the runway and getting blown back into the ocean by the jet blast of departing aircraft. Bring some eye protection though.
